The Sri Lanka Mission of the Tamil Nadu Province (St. Joseph’s Province) of the Discalced Carmelites (OCD) is an expression of the Province’s missionary commitment beyond India. Rooted in the Carmelite charism of prayer, contemplation, fraternity, and apostolic service, the mission seeks to proclaim the Gospel and promote the spiritual heritage of Carmel among the people of Sri Lanka.
The mission is engaged in pastoral ministry, vocation promotion, spiritual formation, retreats, youth ministry, and social outreach. Inspired by the teachings of Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint John of the Cross, and Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the friars strive to foster a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer and service.
Through its various ministries, the Sri Lanka Mission serves the local Church while nurturing Carmelite spirituality and encouraging vocations to religious life. The mission stands as a witness to the universal and missionary spirit of the Order of Discalced Carmelites.
