Stella Maris Ashram, Dhupguri, was founded in the year *2000* in the *Diocese of Jalpaiguri* as a center of Carmelite presence and missionary outreach in North Bengal. The foundation was initiated under the leadership of *Rev. Fr. Albert Peter OCD*, whose vision and dedication laid the groundwork for the growth of the Carmelite mission in the region.
Inspired by the rich spiritual heritage of the *Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCD)*, the Ashram was established to serve the local Church through pastoral ministry, evangelization, spiritual formation, vocation promotion, and the dissemination of Carmelite spirituality. From its humble beginnings, the community steadily expanded its apostolic activities, responding to the spiritual and pastoral needs of the people of North Bengal.
Over the years, Stella Maris Ashram became a vibrant center of prayer, fraternity, and mission. Through parish ministry, retreats, youth ministry, educational initiatives, and social outreach programs, the Carmelite friars have sought to bear witness to the Gospel values of faith, hope, and charity.
Recognizing its growth and importance in coordinating the Carmelite presence in the region, *Stella Maris Ashram was designated as the Regional House in 2017*. Since then, it has served as the administrative and spiritual center for the Carmelite communities of the region, fostering unity, formation, and missionary zeal.
Guided by the teachings of *St. Teresa of Avila, **St. John of the Cross, and **St. Thérèse of Lisieux*, Stella Maris Ashram continues its mission of leading people to a deeper encounter with Christ through prayer, contemplation, and apostolic service.
Today, Stella Maris Ashram stands as a beacon of Carmelite spirituality in North Bengal, dedicated to the service of the Church and the proclamation of the Gospel.
*Motto:* Prayer • Fraternity • Mission
